HOLI - a solo exhibition by Sharini Yogi

Date

Sept 2022 - Oct 2022

Location

ArtVoice Gallery, Sentul

The HOLI' series body of work reflects the Indian Festival of Holi, which embraces spring, love, and birth, and is represented by bright colour pigments diluted in water and splattered at festival goers during the festival celebration at large open spaces, usually near temple grounds.Yellow, for example, represents knowledge and learning, while Teal represents clarity and new beginnings, and everything in between represents warmth, passion, and love. Colors created by colour splatter layers are also given weight. When combined with Jackson Pollock's drip technique and my experimental manipulation of fluid dynamics, one will recognise the vibrant rhythm and dance, but most importantly, the thrill of experiencing 'HOLI' through the colliding strokes of colour created by the fluid movements and viscosity of the paint play of just by hand speed action.
